Built in 1907 by Monsieur Fevrier whose family built and owned the local brewery in Momignies we are only the 3rd occupier in 100 years. Imposing and majestic, from its magnificent tower to the ornate and beautifully crafted plasterwork and coving, ‘le Petit Chateau’ (as the house is known locally) offers guests a relaxing stay in this sympathetically renovated home. The house is full of period furniture which is kindly supplied by Bluebell Antiques whose showroom is currently situated in the Concierge cottage.
Bluebell B&B provide 3 rooms with luxury en-suite shower facilities including large overhead shower body jets and traditional shower head. The main house is situated in over one acre of mature gardens hosting numerous large trees but is dominated by a magnificent Copper Beech that rises up some 30+m and is approximately 5m in circumference at its base. In 2006 we anticipate the completion of the ‘Concierge cottage’ which will offer guests a newly converted Gite with its own private walled garden.
The area provides a wealth of options for the sightseer, all set in a gently rolling countryside of lush pasture and agricultural land. The French border is situated just 5 minutes drive with additional tourist attractions of the Avesnois.
This house is a slice of history and we have a copy of a photo from 1914 showing the troops marching past the house into France to fight the Germans. In the 2nd World War it is believed that the Germans occupied the house as a communications centre and fighting was seen in the street leaving a bullet hole (still seen today) through one of the original shutters,
Andy & Marie welcome you to our home – We aim to make your stay here an experience to be remembered.
